Housing pivot

Hello, I bought American Craftsman windows series 8500 from Home Depot in 2006. The spring broke. I cut out a space and removed the pivot shoe, I have two coil housing pivots 15-087 (going to replace both side while I'm at it). The original coil housing pivot has 8 stamped on the side. I was going to purchase 8 lb. series 180 coil balance but see that your company recommends to buy the 15-086 pivot housing as well. The original housing only had the 15-087 pivot housing. would you recommend I buy this as well and why?

Hello,

You'd only need the 15-086 if the window uses two coil springs on each side. If it only uses one, then you would only need the 15-087 housing pivots. I would also recommend confirming that the original coil springs are stamped with 8, not just the housing. Thanks for posting!
