Is there a sleeve of any type that will allow you to shim one side of the 83-126 off of the face of the door?

Greetings. I'm afraid I couldn't find any shim to go with this screen door handle. One thought would be to get a piece of auto mobile gasket material and cut one to fit. Do you think that could work?

I was able to use the insides of this part to repair the older outdated version of itself! Thank you for your suggestion though!
