How to cut bulb weatherseal

Question

I ordered your 58-053 5/16ths bulb weather stripping. My question is should I wrap the edge with the weather stripping, cut the edge with the end extended out past the window so it is even with vertical bulb, or simply cut the bulb even with the side of the window.

The original seal was cut even with the edge of the window and it left a gap in each corner. It seems like a bad design.

Any insight you can provide will be appreciated.

It's not a bad idea to over-cut it a little, but not too much since you could interfere with the operation of the window. Cutting it a little longer might close the gap you have.
