Hello! It looks like you have tilt window spiral balances. Without a color tip, your only option is to remove the sash from the frame and place it on a scale. Then, look at the chart we show on the S900-29 store page. That tells you how much weight each color tip option supports.

Yep! Friction is accounted for. The only thing that I can see causing a problem is if maybe you changed to a ticker weatherstripping at any point in the past, but that doesn't really have anything to do with the balances.
