How to remove a metal cover from my Caradco crank

I am retired from the window industry and thought I "knew it all."  However, We have just purchased a home built in about 1993-1994 that has Caradco casement and awning windows.  The operator crank has a metal cover (verses the plastic pop off type) and I can't figure out how to remove it.  Could you please help me with how to do this?  Thank you, Todd Woods

It sounds like you may have an older Caradco style operator on your awning windows. The older style operators had non removable covers. I placed a couple of different replacement operators in a list on this page for you to review. I'd also like to ask a question if I may? Why are you considering a removable cover?
