I have Kolbe & Kolbe Awning windows. The part that is attached to the window which lets the window slide in it's track when being opened and closed (is it called a 'keeper'?) has broken. It's the black plastic part in the first 2 pictures. The plastic part wraps around a metal body that pivots on rod attached to the window sash.

I am painting these windows but I don't want to take the others out if the part breaks and I can't get them back in correctly.

Hello! What you're looking for here is called the hinge slide, or guide. These are unfortunately not sold separately. If yours is broken then you will need an all new hinge assembly.

The good news is that we sell a wide variety of different hinges and they're fairly adaptable, so we should be able to supply you with hardware that will work on your window. My top suggestion is the 36-048. You'll note that the design is a little different, but that won't matter as long as you replace the top and bottom hinge at the same time. That will ensure a symmetrical operation.

In a worst case scenario you may need to drill new holes, but even that may not be necessary. Just something to keep in mind. Please also note that the base track of our 36-048 is 10" long. We do offer other sizes in case that doesn't match. Make sure to check that before you buy anything.
