I need coiled balance springs which were broken. I do not see # on tongue because I do not have a tongue. The wide is 1/2 inch
Will I need 2 springs for each side of the window? Where I can see video for installation?
Thanks for posting. This is a 15-180 Pivot Shoe, which works with Series 190 Coil Balance springs, sold separately. How many coils you need per side of the window is determined by the weight of the window sash. Each coil spring has its own spring weight, or weight it can support on its own. Basically you want a symmetrical amount of spring weights on both sides of the window sash, and adding them together should equal the weight of the window.
To know what spring weight to pick for a replacement spring, look for a stamp on the coil springs. This stamp is usually by the 'tongue' of the spring. The tongue is what is connects the springs to the pivot shoe. You have to remove the assemblies from the window to see them.
That said, there aren't always stamps. If there are none, or you are unsure, just weigh the window sash to figure out the spring weights needed. See the video below for details, and the second video that details how to remove and replace a similar system.
