I need new springs for my windows

This looks like a non-tilt window spiral balance, but it's unfortunately not possible to identify these while they're still installed. Is it possible to see the balance removed from the window first? I specifically need to see the bottom end of the spiral rod as well as whatever clip or hook it uses to attach to the bottom corners of the sash.
