Im trying to find the right window balancer

Quick Learner from Washington
Im trying to find the right replacement for our Milgard windows. I always seem to get the wrong strength or size. I have a channel balance that says "26 5 HP CALDWELL" and is 27" long before either of the clips.

Hello and thanks for contacting SWISCO. I can help you find the right balance you need. We cannot identify this on the stamp alone; however I see in the past you ordered the Series 385. This comes with the nylon caps 19-005 and 15-004. Do these match the nylon caps on the balances you need to replace? If so you are good to go. You would need the S385-27, with the 2650 stamp option. This stamp option determines how much weight the balance can handle. This is indicated by the stamp you read on your balance, but if you are uncertain it is correct you can weigh your window sash to be sure of the exact weight you need your balances to support.

thanks that helps a lot. Does the weight hold half of the weight of the sash or all of it. For instance if I have 2 12lbs balancers does it then lift 24 lbs or does it only hold 12lbs with both?

Hi there, the two balances support the full weight of the sash. So, a 24 lb. sash would be supported by two balances equally supporting the full weight of the window. Hope this clears it up for you!
