Installation of 83-115

How do I remove this handle to replace a 83-115 latch? I don't see 2 screws to take out to get to the guts. Do i have to tear of the fake veneer to find the screws? I'm afraid if I do that it will look crappy... and I will need to replace that somehow..
Do I need to remove this wood vaneer to access the 2 screws?

Looking at your older handle, I can see you have a Pella Logo plug. You'll need to remove that Pella plug to get to the mounting screw.
