Installing Patio Sliding glass door track cover

Question

I have ordered new rollers and a sliding glass door track cover from you which I should arrive at my home on 2/28/13.
Several other sites recommend a small bead of adhesive on the old track when installing the new cover and one site suggests installing small screws at each end of the track cover. Are these suggestions of any benefit?
