Installing Pivit Shoes

A quick learner from Kissimmee, Fl says:
I have aluminum windows. I found provided cutout in the tracks, and was able to remove the old pivot shoes by prying with a screwdriver. Replacing the shoes is a bit more difficult. I tried my first, and used a hammer to pound the shoe in place, but in the process, the shoe broke on the bottom right. It is seated in the track, and looks like it will work, but it is broken. Is there a way to avoid this breakage when I install the other pivot shoes? The aluminum tracks are not as flexible as the vinyl ones shown in your videos, so bending them out does not appear to be a good option. Any suggestions?

You might have to file down some excess aluminum in the opening and spray some silicone in the cut out to help slide the shoe in. See if that helps.
