Installing an aluminum plunger latch

A contractor from Ridgefield, CT says:
The plunger latch that I have is an aluminum unit with an aluminum cap. I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get the aluminum cap to stay on. It doesn't have a shoulder like the plastic ones. Do you need to crimp it?

Hi there, I think I can help. You have an older style pull pin with a metal cap. You will need to crimp it using a type of center punch. Take a look at the 75-075; you will need a center punch/nail set similar to this to set the camp on your pull pin. You might have a center punch in with your tools or you can pick one up a local hardware store in your area. The video below should go into more detail.
