It may be more convenient to convert the sash to one that uses a surface mounted tilt latch. Take a look at the video tutorial below for a detailed explanation on how to do this. In the video we suggest using the 26-228 and 26-229 but we also have a wide range of other surface mounted latches that could potentially work; they can be viewed here.

Thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, Victor did not get back to us about whether or not this solution worked out for him.

We're finding that internal and corner mount tilt latches are becoming increasingly difficult to find. That said, I can confirm that our senior experts have completed this repair many times. Other customers have also used this method and, quite honestly, it makes future repairs a lot easier in the long run.
