Internal locking mechanism

This is a picture of the locking mechanism on the inside of the door connected to the thumb mechanism on the inside of my Pella door. I haven't removed the part yet because I can't still make it work and I fear if I remove it, I will not be able to lock the door. Currently when we open the door, the locking mechanism falls back into the lock stage. If I put my finger in and pull it down on the lock and put a little pressure with the thumb mechanism, I can lock the door.

Hey there,
Thanks for posting! It sounds like the lock in the door is already broken. The latch inside the lock should not be falling back in place once the door is open and you should not have to manually throw it.
I believe you'll need the 82-247 Pell Locking Mechanism to replace what you have. You'll need to compare the specifications below to confirm that it is the right fit for the door.
