Is there a lubrication for newly installed spiral balances?

I have replaced spiral balances and windows still seem hard to open and close. Is any lubricant or cleaning solution recommended? Is the next logical step to replace the "shoe" that rides in the track? what do you recommend.

All of our balances come pre-lubricated, so I don't think that's the problem. Are they properly charged? It could be you need to give them a few more turns. Take a look at our tutorial video on how to charge spiral balances to see what I mean.
