Jasmine told me I need to come here to meet a specialist

A quick learner from Chino, California says:
Hi, One of the window balance and the top sash are broken. I took some photos of the balance and the top sash. The metal part of the balance I measured is 26-5/8" long and 1/2" width. Jasmine says it could be a custom made. I wonder if I could replace it with a regular one. Also, the window is around 24 pounds.
Please help me to find a replacement. Thank you

Russell

Hi Russell. Jasmine was right; this balance has to be custom made due to its unique length, as well as the fact the hook with the cord comes out of the shoe (in our standard Series balances, this cord comes out of the metal channel). I need just a little more information to be able to help. First, is there a stamp code on the metal channel? If so, can we see it? If not, confirm the exact weight of your window sash (for instance, if it's indeed 24 lbs exactly). That will help us narrow down what you need. Secondly, how many balances do you need? From there, we'll get this started for you. Many thanks.

It is very important to know the sash weight of the window to ensure the longevity of these balances. Guessing on the weight is not a guarantee the replacement balances will provide a 100% functionality once they are replaced with your original balances. There isn't any "regular" or "universal" balance weight that will just hold up all sashes. And since these balances are going to be custom made for you, there is no way of returning them back to us if they're not correct. Our best advisement we can give you is to get an exact weight of your sash and get back to us with that information. We want to make certain the replacements we provide you work to its full capacity.

Hi, Bob

I couldn't find any code on the metal part. The weight of the window sash is 24 to 25 pounds. I don't have a scale can hold the sash because it's too big. I weighed it by holding it.
By any chance, can I just use two regular 27" balances to replace the original ones? The max I need is 2 balances.
A quick learner from Chino, California says:
Yes. The weight is 24 pounds.

Btw, I also need 1 top sash guide, which the width is 5/8". Thank you

Thanks, that's a big help. We can definitely get this all set up for you. To answer your earlier question on your past few posts, a standard balance will not replace this. The reason this balance has to be a special order to begin with is because it has extra travel in the cord. Whenever I've tried to use a standard balance to replace these, the cord either pops out of the frame or it rips out of the balance pulley itself. I wouldn't advise trying it.

As for the top sash guide, I recommend our 18-008H. It's not exactly the same as your original but I think it should still be able to work as a replacement. Look it over and let me know what you think.

I'll email you an order link and price quote right now for two of these balances with a 26-4 stamp option. This stamp option indicates that a pair of these can support 18 through 25 pounds, which should be perfect for your sash weight.

Thanks for considering us and please let me know if you need anything else!
