Question

In need of a locking mechanism. Ordered 82-218 and it is too long. Is there anything smaller?

Thanks for posting. Without seeing the original mortise lock it's difficult to say what you need, but judging from the hole in the door I'm confident the 82-218 is probably correct. Keep in mind it's supposed to be a very snug fit and has to be inserted at an angle. See the video below that shows the installation and let me know if this helps.
