Jordan single sash window

Home Owner from Scottsdale AZ

I need to replace the channel balance on this window. The metal part is 29". A handyman took the window apart for me and will install the new channel balances when I receive hem. Although only one has failed I want to replace both sides.

Thank you for your help with this project .

Hi there, Rosemary.

I recommend either the S351-29 or S390-29 channel balance. The best match for your project will depend on the depth of the bottom fitting as shown in the photo below. You will also need to select the 2840 spring strength option.

Emily, thank you for your response and your recommendations for replacement.
However, in your pictures the clear plastic part of the balance you show 15-005 has flanges extending past the metal channel itself. On my channel, the plastic part is the same width as the metal channel. Do you have a part without the flanges that would fit my channel? Also, my part is 1 inch.

Thank you so much for your quick response!

Emily, I just looked at the channel space in the window frame and it looks like your channel balance with the flanges will fit. My broken channel balance has space on either side of the part when in insert it into the channel --- make sense to you?

Oh, I see! I accidentally uploaded the wrong photo. I'm sorry about that! The image below is what I had meant to post originally. Both the Series 351 and Series 390 have non-winged top and bottom fittings. If your bottom fitting measures 1" deep then you'd want the Series 351

Emily,
Thanks ever so. I don't mean to be a baby but please tell me how many 'parts' I have to order. The series 351 and the weight of the sash is 20 lbs. Is there something else I need to know?? I will order two new channel balances.

You're not being a baby! You're asking relevant questions regarding your repair. Your old 2840 stamp is calibrated for a sash weighing 23 to 28 pounds. Have you ever had trouble opening or closing your window?

The reason I ask is that you say the window sash weighs 20 pounds which would make the original 2840 stamp too strong. The 2830 stamp can support a sash weighing 16 to 23 pounds so that's what you'd want for a 20-pound sash. However, if the window has been operating the whole time without any issues then you could just stick with the original 2840 stamp. The decision is ultimately up to you!

As for how many parts you need, I'm afraid I can't say. You will need to inspect the hardware in your windows for signs of damage and go from there.

Emily. Thank you so much for all the help you have given me. Other than the channel balances the window seems to be in perfect condition since it is hardly ever used. Per your suggestion I am going to go with the 2830 since opening the window is just a little difficult for me.

Emily, again thank you for such great customer service!,,,
