Key lock is broken on my patio slider

Patio slider door has thumb latch, on inside, and keyed mechanism on outside...both need to be replaced, key lock has broken shaft that turns and unlocks door, age of door related.
My question is....I never use key lock as door is on a non accessible deck, second story level, so what can you advise..I would like to replace whole door mechanism but not the key lock. Is there a part, like a metal plate that could go over hole where the key lock goes in to?
