Can not keep the window open there was a loud bang. We removed the part that holds the window open the this is what it looks like. There seems to be a twisted part inside like a spring the all this is inclosed in a white plastic casing.

Thanks for posting. This looks like it could be an S900-29 spiral balance. Take a look and see if you agree.

To determine the color tip, you will have to weigh your window sash and compare it to the color tip options we show under the S900-29, each of which is designated a sash weight that they can support.
