Kinro windows

Home Owner from Reno, NV

Hi, my home has Kinro windows and I have several questions for you. My home is 20 years old. One of the wondow balances finally broke. These things are constantly popping up when you open or close the windows. Where we live here in Nevada, the dust  (as you can see) is constantly getting into the window. My wife cleans these about every 3 months, but these things conitue to pop up. The sash that broke is 27" but I'm not sure of the weight?

Hoping the first pic shows you what i need. My second question, and two pics, is how do I fix the slot where the balance clips into? The plastic has chipped away from the constant popping of the balance. Is that repairable? Or is a new window required? lastly, how do you tell if the sash guide is the problem with the balance popping up? these windows have done it since the house was new. thanks.

Hi there Fred.

Thank you for reaching out to us. Your top sash guide appears to match the 18-171. Damage to the top sash guide often indicates that the balances need to be replaced or that the stamp option is too strong. We would be happy to help you further, but we'll need close-up photos of the top and bottom fittings of the balance.

Unfortunately, we do not have a solution for the damage to the slots. As long as you can insert the hook into the slot and it remains secure, you should be fine. If not, you would need to replace the jamb, but that is beyond our expertise, so we don't know where you could acquire a new one.

Thank you. Attached are the close ups of the balance ends. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

Thank you kindly! Your balance looks like a match for the S380-27 or S385-27. The best match depends on the depth of the bottom shoe, so you'll have to measure as shown below.

A pair of balances with the 2640 stamp will support a sash weighing 19 to 26 pounds. If you'd like to confirm this stamp option is appropriate for the window, you can weigh the window sash on a scale to see if it falls within the given weight range.

Please let us know if you have any questions!
