I recently spoke with someone from customer service who was going to attempt to find a replacement part (most importantly the spindle) in order to fix this door handle. She mentioned that she needed a picture of the door. Attached you will find two pictures.

See our 40-101 handle pair, which is also included in the 40-049 complete lockset. The 40-101 handle pair is used on storm doors and security storm doors, but I'm not sure what kind of door you have. The spindle size for the 40-101 is also 5/16" square and 2-7/16" Long. Take a look and see if it matches up to yours. If not, you may want to contact a local locksmith for further assistance.
