Latch assembly for window

A home owner from Lincoln California says:
The crank arm broke off the latch, so I cannot open the window.
Included pics of the broken latch, and an intact latch from another window for comparison.

It is a Milguard product, but I cannot find any numbers on it.

We are second owners of the home, so I have no documentation on the windows.

Hello,

We may be able to help but I'd like to see a photo of your lock removed from the window and the keeper it latches onto to confirm a replacement. Thank you!

A home owner from Lincoln California says:
I am not able to remove the latch; plus I would have a hard time locking the window. I took another photo of the latch from the inside and one showing the locking mechanism on the outside.
I know it is a Milgard product and probably installed about 4 or 5 years ago.
There are four windows and I would likely replace all four so they match.
Measures 4 1/2 Inches.

Thanks! This looks similar in design to our 38-095 and 38-096. You will need to carefully review the dimensions we show for these parts to determine the better match, especially the projection of the fork. That's a very important detail and you may not be able to accurately measure it without removing it ahead of time.

A home owner from Lincoln California says:
Okay, removed the latch and have some basic dimensions. Looking at the dimensions it looks like the 38-0895 is closer to what I need than the 38-2896.

I've been told to just order one of each to be sure.
Good idea or not?

It's a bit tough to tell from these photos, but sure; you could always purchase both, then return the one that doesn't work. See our Return Policy here.
