The medal piece is 1". Do they come shorter?

I'm afraid we haven't been able to find a version of the 82-240 with a shorter stem. It could be that your handle has a lower base plate than the modern 82-080. You might be better off replacing the complete handle set with our 82-080. Take a look and confirm if the 4-15/16" hole spacing matches your assembly.
