Latch not latching.

Question

Latch will not latch. In the photos it is as open as it can get? the latch that is. I did find a 3 digit number it is 985. The measurements Look like it is a 82-218. My house is paid for and there's a possibility I may be selling it,. I'm sure the new owners would prefer to have a actual mechanical lock weather rather than a two by four in the track. Also my keeper seems like it does not come close to the latch even if it were able 2 open farther. Is there a certain Keeper that comes with this latch? Do they come and sets?

Hello! I agree, our 82-218 looks like a great match for your mortise. As long as the dimensions match up then you should be good to go.

As for the keeper, the 82-218 is compatible with many, many different kinds. There is no singular pairing, unfortunately. Some common options are the 89-020, 89-021, and 89-021D, but the only way to know for sure which one will work is to use the original as a reference. If you don't think the original is correct, then there is no way at all to know for sure what will work instead.
