Latch replacement 82-107

A quick learner from Tucson, AZ says:
I successfully installed the latch replacement lever (82-107). Removed the locking mechanism only to find the old tailpeice still connected. The lock doesn't appear to be compatible with the new replacement tailpiece. Next steps? Thanks

Hello, thank you for posting,

We are sorry to hear you are having issues with the new install. We believe that the issue may be that the tail piece on the key lock is too long and interfering with the lever tail piece. Both these tail pieces go into either side of the mortise lock body to operate the mortise hook. What we recommend doing is to start by cutting down the key lock tail piece a little at a time and be careful not to cut down to far or the key lock will not reach at all. You will want to cut down until the lever sits flush against the door frame. Please also view the video below. About half way through we show this process. Let me know if you have any questions.
