Latch still not locking

A handy person from Missouri says:
Greetings,
I recently ordered, received and installed the Double Hook Mortise Lock. It installed easily and works as expected while the door is open. When I close the door and try to lock it, the hooks do not engage. I can't tell if the center button is no being pressed far enough, or is somehow being pressed too far.

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Dave Sr. from SWISCO responded:

I'm wondering if you have the 89-042 keeper and you are missing the "strike Plate" 89-043. Take a look at the list of replacement parts I posted on this page to see if any of these items is what you need.

A handy person from Missouri says:
The strike plate that's been there since day 1 is the same as 89-030.

I can order a new one, but I'd rather not if it isn't going to fix anything.

Ah, okay. If you still have your strike plate then I'm not sure what the issue may be. It could be a matter of a broken thumb lever. If the stem on the lever is damaged, it may not be throwing the hooks properly. I would remove the mortise from the door and try throwing it manually with a screwdriver to see if it works okay. If not, let me know.
