Latch won't come out when the lock is turned open

Question

I think I need this 82-227 Mortise Lock to replace mine. On mine the latch won't pop out anymore when the lock is turned open. Can you confirm this will fix that? Thanks. See pic.

First, I would remove the handle from the door and try to activate the lock manually with a screwdriver. That will confirm that the mortise lock is what's broken. If so, then see our 82-218. You should be able to replace this and re-use your outer plate.
