Latch won't lock

Question

My double prong sliding door latch will not lock. I have to push the metal tab inward which is located in the middle between the two prongs to allow the latch to move to the locking position with the door open. Once I unlock the latch, still with the door open, it sticks again and will not allow the lack to lock again. I believe it has something to do with that middle tab. Please let me know what you think. Thank you!

Thanks for writing in. Sounds like this whole mortise lock is broken down. In this case, you're better off just replacing it with our 82-238. Let me know what you think.
