Legacy Handle Set

Quick Learner from California
I purchased item 82-089 sliding door handles on the advice of the forum but found the screw holes to be off from the original sliders US Patent 5125703 D340,398. I am wondering if item 82-086 on your website might have the proper placement for the screws. If so, could I return the original purchase for a replacement?

Thanks for reaching out to us! The 82-089 is the same as the 82-086 except that it's non-keyed so both parts have 3-15/16" installation hole center spacing. Can you confirm that you're measuring from the center of each installation hole? It may also be helpful if we could see a photo of the front of your original handle.

I have enclosed three photos for you. The first one is my original handle. The second would be the one I got from Swisco and the third is a side by side of the two slider handles. What is obvious is that the lock portion of the slider is lower for the Swisco than the original handle. Is there any way to key the handle slot to match with the original?

Thank you for the photos! I think I see the issue here. The thumb lever on the original handle appears to be centered while the 82-089 is offset which is why you're having trouble. The 82-089 can't replace your old handle due to that difference, unfortunately. The good news is that the 82-030A can. If you didn't want it keyed, see the 82-030 instead. However, just note that this also measures 3-15/16" on the installation hole centers so you'll want to make sure your original handle matches this as well.
