Hi there, We've been struggling a bit getting this Legacy lock on. We were able to cut the tail ends and line them up inside the lock mortise.
However, the threaded caps that align with the screws, to attach the set to the door are too long AND they hit the metal plate inside the set. We were able to trim the threaded caps down so they do not get pushed back by the metal plate inside (see picture), yet it was necessary to leave some thread on for screws. Is the expectation to trim these? The set is not flush to the door and there is a gap between the threaded caps and the screws (see picture). Please advise.

Looking at your photos, you may need to enlarge the mounting holes in the door so that the through bolt will fit without having to cut them. Try using a rat-tail file or a drill with a larger diameter drill bit to make the hole a little larger to accept the through bolt.
