Lemco Alumninum Awning Window Project
I am working on restoring five 3-pane aluminum awning windows. The cranks are stamped with LEMCO and possibly date from the 50s or 60s. I am hoping to find replacements for the various rusted screws and I am missing one complete crank. There are 3 different styles of screws in the photos as well as a closeup of one of the cranks and the location of the missing crank. I also have one pane of glass that needs to be replaced so I am curious if there is a replacement for the vinyl (I am guessing) weather stripping that holds these windows in.
Thanks,
Sarah
Hi Sarah,
Your Lemco operator is no longer available. We suggest using the 39-257B operator. This seems to be the closest match to the Lemco. I could be wrong, but from what I recall the Lemco operator had a 3/8" diameter hole at the end of the link arm which attached to the linkage of the window. The 39-257B has a threaded hole at the end of the link arm which takes the 33-067 shoulder screw. If you can't use the operator with the threaded hole you might need to drill it out. You would need to decide depending on how you want to install the new operator. As for the installation screws for the operator we suggest the 33-081 screw. On the clip take a look at the 70-132 clip and the 33-072 screw.
Also you say you might need glazing vinyl or weatherstripping. Not sure we can supply. If you want send us some photos with dimensions on the glass vinyl and weather stripping. We would need to see an undamaged piece removed from the window where we can see the end profile to confirm the overall style.
Take a look at all the suggested hardware and related videos. Let us know if you have any questions.
