Lock malfunction - the hook cannot be controlled/pushed out

It looks like a mechanism in the lock has malfunctioned. When attempting to lock the sliding door, the hook does not come out.

It sounds like the mortise lock might be broken and should be replaced. Try removing the handle set, then attempt to throw the lock manually with a slotted screwdriver to confirm. If it doesn't budge, it's definitely the problem. See our 82-218 for a replacement.
