Lock problem

Question

My lock deploys but pops open when the door with additional closing pressure. Not sure if it's a lock issue or a latch problem. Perhaps installation misalignment? Your #82-218 is an exact replacement. Can you tell me what the problem is?

Thanks for reaching out to us. If I'm understanding the nature of your issue, it sounds like the hook on your mortise seems to be extending by itself, locking your door when you don't want it to. Can you verify?

I believe the source of this issue is that your mortise is currently installed upside-down. This style mortise should always have the hook pointing up to avoid this precise issue. I believe if you remove it, flip it over, and then reinstall it, you will fix the issue entirely.
