The only clue I have is that the mortise lock, shown in attached photo, matches ecactly to your part number 82-229 as far as appearance and dimensions.
I beleive your handle set number 82-086 is compatiible wiht the mortis lock, and will work for me.
Is there a way to confirm this?

Thanks for your patience during this busy season. I agree that our 82-229 is a match for this, and it is indeed compatible with the 82-086.
In direct answer to your question, there's no way we can confirm what handle works for your door based on this data alone. The only way to do that is to see the old one. But since that's not possible, we can at least reasonably speculate. My reasonable speculation is that if the hole spacing in the door is 3-15/16", and if the door is anywhere from 1-1/8" to 2-1/2" thick, then there are good odds our 82-086 is worth considering.
The only thing that gives me hesitation is the fact that the door is wood. I've never seen either the 82-229 or 82-086 used for a wood door before. It's possible someone converted an old wood door for use with modern hardware, but that's just more speculation, and much less reasonable. No matter how you look at it, this is going to be a gamble. Your best hope is to trust in your dimensions and use our own listed measurements as a reference point. That's the final determining factor.
