Looking for correct external key lock.

This is a new sliding glass door from "MI", model 910. It comes with an optional external key lock. I didn't get one with the install, but would like to install one. I can see a circular punch out for a key, but have no idea what to order so I can lock from the outside. Do you have any options I may consider!

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike, it sounds like our 82-310 would make a great option for you! Look it over to be sure you agree.

Thanks so much! After watching the instruction video, it looks like I will probably need a housing cover for this as well, but I'm not sure.

Would this product work, keyed lock with housing? https://www.swisco.com/Key-Lock-Kit/pd/Patio-Glass-Door-Replacement-Key-Cylinders/82-315

Just want to make sure it's the same lock, but with a housing cover.

Thx again

Hey, Mike. I think I can help with this question.

You actually won't need the 82-315Your handle technically has the 82-315 housing built into it already; the curved protrusion you see along the raised pull serves the same function. All you need to do is knock out the center punch and you should be able to install the key lock normally.

I got the lock, and the housing unit. My handle is made of metal, so hole doesn't really punch out. I gave it a couple of hacks and it dents, but I'm not doing it right. Should I get an outside handle? Looking at something easy. Which handle would work best if I just bought a new outside handle that has the lock hole that's there or easily punched out?

I'm afraid there is no outside handle that has a hole pre-punched. I recommend watching the video below, this should tell you the proper method of getting that knock out hole out. I can tell you right off the bat that you want to take the handle off before you attempt anything.
