Looking to swap handle out so it is key lockable on the outside. Tag says model(s) SGD-R20-120x96 or SGD-LC25-120x82

It looks like you could remove the punchout hole in the outside pull and insert our 82-310 Key Lock. Take a look at these parts and see what you think.

Thanks...I'll order the key lock and let you know how it goes.

So installed the lock and am I to assume I knock out the tail piece that was in the old latch and affix the latch to the tail piece attached to the cylinder? I tightened everything up and won't lock...very, very stiff to even turn the latch.

Thanks.

You want to cut down the tail piece in the 82-310 down to an appropriate size, not so short that it can't engage the lock, but not so long that it jams against the tail piece of the thumb lever. See if that helps.

Does the 82-310 matter if my lock is a vertical or 45 degree key way position?

Also, to be clear, you are saying the tail piece of the thumb lever should basically touch the tail piece of the cylinder lock in the "middle" of the lock. In other words, the tail piece of the cylinder lock should NOT go all the way through the lock and affix to the thumb lever.

Tks,

A vertical position would just indicate to me that the mortise in a lock position; no, this shouldn't have anything to do with 82-310 compatibility. Yes, you just want the tail piece to extend to the middle of the lock. If it goes all the way through it will jam with the tail of the thumb lever, which is likely what you're experiencing.

Super...I think that is what my issue was initially. I was running it all the way to the thumb lever.

Yep. Common mistake, though it makes sense why you'd want to err on leaving more of the tail piece and less. But if you cut that down, I think that will help solve the friction issue.
