Marvin Double Hung Balance Spring Broken

Quick Learner from New Jersey
The upper sash balancer rods have started to fail 2 this past weekend. What short term solution can I employ to keep the window up? I currently have wood corner trim inserted under the sash in the track but am concerned that the point loading will damage the bottom sill trim. As the windows are large approximately 42x66

Hello,

We'd be happy to help but we would need to see your balance assembly removed from the window to compare to our inventory. We always recommend replacing the balance hardware to ensure that the window is supported properly since using a stick or another item to prop the window open can result in damage or injury if it fails. Especially since you mentioned that the window is quite large. Take a look at the videos related on this page to assist you depending on the type of balance hardware that the window uses. Thank you!
