Marvin window balance

A contractor from 11731 says:
Hello,
I need to replace a channel balance on an old Marvin window that is about 20yrs old. It is the inside window. The left side balance has 14HD stamped on it and is 15" long , but the right side has (upsidedown U) 14xhd. The balance shoe(blue plastic) was broken and is still in track but looks like a 751. Do you think a 751 would be the correct balance and what does the xhd mean?
Also, the track on top where the clip hangs on is a little chipped to the point where the balance will probably clip about 1/4" lower. Is that an issue?
I didn't remove the sash to inspect for more damage but is there any other parts that usually need to be replaced?
Thank you,
John

As long as the metal channel and shoe are the same style as the Series 751 I think it can still work. The color of the shoe doesn't matter so much in this instance. As for the stamp, I wouldn't worry about the "x." What's important is "14 HD." That is the option I recommend selecting for the S751-15 channel balance.
