Mepla hinge

Handy Person from Princeton, NJ
I am asuming overlay is: mesurement from inside face frame edge to outside of door edge when door is closed? I am hoping to avoid having to add blocking material to accept a hinge with a wider flange on the face frame side. The current width of the faceframe edge is quite small.
I am aware that the eact hinge I have shown you in the photo is discontinued.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Hey there,

Thanks for writing in! It appears you have an "edge mount" type hinge like the 32-353. The mounting plate only has one hole in the center, whereas your hinge has two screw holes at the top and bottom.

That said, I cannot make any guarantees that it will work as a replacement but take a look at the 32-353 on the website and look at the related diagrams as well as the proudct description to see if you could use this type of hinge on your cabinet.

I agree, that a hinge with one screw hole may be satisfactory. However, I require a hinge with a ONE INCH overlay. If there is no 1" overlay version of the recommended hinge, can we find a hinge with proper overlay that will require building up the inside of the frame to accommodate the frame  element of the hinge? Not my preferred solution to the problem. But it may be my only choice.

Hello,

We cannot supply you with a hinge with a 1" overlay but another possible replacement is the 32-345 wrap around hinge which is an edge mount.

This has an overlay of 1-3/8". Take a look at it on the website along with the related diagram. See if this could work on your cabinet. Take note with any hinge replacement you will need to replace them in pairs.
