Mercer window channel balance

Question

The window is 26 lb. the current guide is marked 26-4. Does that correspond to your 2640 option. The window feels very heavy to move, would a 2650 option work as well? The shoe is definitely bigger than 1? see photo. The balance has plenty of wiggle room in the channel - is that okay? 27? length of the metal channel. So, S385-27 option 2650?

I agree that as long as the depth of your bottom attachment measures 1-3/32", the S385-27 would be the correct replacement option. As for which spring strength option to choose, a 26-pound sash will be supported equally well by either a 2640 or 2650 option.

We generally recommend sticking with the same option as your original balances as long as they worked well when they were originally installed, which would be 2640, but either option will work for the sash weight you've provided. The window is most likely hard to lift now because the balances are due to be replaced.
