Milgard Window Balance 2640

A home owner from CA says:
I'm looking for replacement balances (#2640) 27" long, 1/2" wide, 5/8" deep for my Milgard windows. I've attached 3 pictures (2 of the foot and 1 of the top) as I'm not able to tell on your website which product I should be ordering. Could you please help to identify the correct product I should order? Thank you!

Thanks for posting. This balance actually has to be custom made due to its unique design. We'd be happy to do this for you, but we need to see the metal hook or clip at the end of the cord that comes out of the bottom nylon shoe. Can you show us a clear picture of that clip or hook? From there, we should be able to identify this for you. Many thanks.

Would a custom made be the only way to go, cannot replace with an alternative balance?

Here are some additional pictures, which I believe the medal hook you are referring to connects to the top. If you need anything else please let me know.

I am afraid that's not the clip I'm looking for. This clip will be at the end of that nylon cord that comes out of the shoe. It might resemble our 62-108, or maybe our 62-106. If it's missing from this balance, you'll need to check an undamaged one, either from the same window or an identical one in the house.

I am afraid these balances can only be replaced by exact replacements. Their configuration, with the cord coming out of the shoe and their unique length, makes them incompatible with our standard balances. People have tried, and the standard balances tend to break quite quickly. Replacing exactly what you have is always the best course of action.

A home owner from CA says:
Hi Bob,

Thanks for the explanation, I think these pictures should show the correct clip now.

An additional question, I'm wondering if you also have a replacement part for the window handle/latch that I've also included a picture of?

Thank you,
Brian

Yes Brian, that's perfect, thanks. I just sent you an email with a custom link to order (2) of these balances. Let me know if you have any questions prior to ordering. Many thanks.

A home owner from CA says:
Thank you Bob! To confirm, this quote includes two balances with the tops and feet, all the necessary parts for one window?

And regarding the window handle/latch that I included in the previous pictures, is this a question you can answer on this thread? Or as its a different part all together do I need to submit the question in a separate thread?

Thanks again!

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Yes, these balances come fully assembled out of the box and ready for installation.

My apologies for missing the latch question; you can certainly ask it here! I'm afraid this design is not familiar to me. We might not have an exact match, but compare its dimensions to our selection here and see if you think any are similar.

I also need this exact set!

I'd be happy to set you up with a custom order for these balances, but it's important to note before we proceed that custom balances are non-refundable. As such, you may want to submit pictures of your balance so that we can confirm that it is identical. There are many, many variations that are close in design but have small differences that render them incompatible. In these cases it's better to be safe than sorry.

We specifically need to see the top fitting, bottom fitting, stamp, and the metal hook at the end of the cord. I also need you to measure the length of the metal channel (ignoring the nylon fittings) and tell me its size. Lastly, how many did you need?
