crank stopped bringing window in.
It is a Truth crank.
8 and 1/2" arm. part #40626 stamped on the arm

Thanks for posting. I'm afraid I can't narrow down the operator you need based on this information alone. Can you show us pictures of the operator either removed from the window or at least with the window open from a bird's eye view, so the link arm is in full view? From there, we'll try and narrow down possible options for you. Many thanks.

Here is the photo. The actual length of the arm is
9 and 5/8ths tip to tip. The rivet and screw are 8 and 1/2
apart

This is a Milgard window installed 25 years ago.
Wish i could just replace the housing, because the worm gear just seems to have escaped out the top when I try to crank the window in?

Thanks for getting back to us. That looks like our 39-216 operator. Look it over and let me know if you agree.

I'm afraid there's no repairing the worm gear once it has come out. These are machine pressed at the factory, which means if it comes out then the gearing in whole has stripped out. The only fix is a new operator.

Looks Good! Why does mine have 40626 printed on the flip side of the arm? It does have Truth printed on the upper side - as it appears the 39-216 does.

How do I get one?

If you send it, and it does not fit, can I send it back?
At that time I could probably send the old one with it,
so you can determine if you do have one that fits. This is a window on the 2nd floor, so I'm going to need to get on a tall ladder to remove and replace the operator.

Great, I'm glad it looks like a match! Truth often prints stamps like this on their hardware. Sometimes they're used for just one part, sometimes they're used across multiple different parts. We never came across this particular stamp before so we didn't want to guess, just to be safe.

You can purchase the 39-216, and the opposite 39-217, directly from our site whenever you wish.

Installed the part you sent. It fit perfectly!

The original plate was held with six screws.
I had to drill a couple of holes through the
plastic window frame to access two of the screws.
But those holes are basically inside and covered
by the frame of the screen.
