Milgard window balancer

Home Owner from Rocklin, CA
I need a replacement balancer for a Milgard window single hung, non-tilt but I'm unable to identify the part number. The only info on it is printed (not stamped) it states: 32 4 GS CALDWELL. The metal part of the balancer is 33" long. The window was new around 1998. There is a label on the top of the inside window frame: H-C40-54x90 Series: 5220/5231/5270 P.L.# 032-138. Photos attached.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Frank, thanks for contacting SWISCO. This looks like either our S380-33 or S385-33 Channel Balances, with a stamp option of 3240. The only difference between these two balances is the depth of the bottom nylon shoe. The S380-33 has a bottom nylon shoe with a depth of 1". The S385-33 has a bottom nylon shoe with a depth of 1-3/32". Compare with your old balance and see what matches best.

Once you know which Series to pick, you simply need to select the stamp option. The stamp option corresponds to the weight of the window sash that the Channel Balance needs to support. Your stamp of 32 4 matches corresponds with the stamp option of 3240, which is for a sash weight range of 23 to 28 lbs. If you want to be 100% sure this is correct, you may weigh your window sash to confirm it falls within this weight range.
