Mismatched balances. Some are 2530 some are 2540. With the weight of these windows, I believe 2540 would work better.

My sister lives in San Francisco. I live in Washington state. I'll be traveling there to help with some miscellaneous house projects. I'd like to have materials there when I arrive as I'm only there for a few days. Hopefully, with your advice, we can get the correct balances. They are probably 15-20 year old vinyl windows that are very heavy/hard to open. I'll be putting in 24 balances.

Hey there,

Thanks for your post! I'm afraid I would not be able to confirm the exact balances you need to repair the windows using the photos provided. I'll need to see the top and bottom attachments to identify the correct replacements, which means I would need to see the balances completely removed from the window.

In regard to the stamp on the balance, you'll need to confirm the exact weight of the sash to determine which stamp option would be the best one for the repairs. Unfortunately, I would not be able to confirm the best stamp without that information.

I've included a few video tutorials below with instructions on how to remove the hardware and what we'd need to identify them. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions in the meantime.

Thanks for the additional photos. This particular balance can be replaced with either the S351-26 or the S390-26. To determine which of these is the correct replacement, you'll need to measure the depth of the bottom shoe.

Again, to determine which stamp is best for the window, you'll need to confirm the exact weight of the sash. Be sure to double check the stamps and/or sash weights for all of the balances to ensure you have the correct replacements at the time of installation.
