Missing Pivot Bar for Simonton Tilt In Window

Home Owner from Cleveland, OH
I don't know where it went (?!) but one pivot bar is completely missing. I can't find anything in your catalog that looks like it.

Thanks for posting. You have an older style Simonton pivot bar. They've replaced it with our newer 26-336. It looks different, but the pin should fit your pivot shoe, and so long as the distance between the center of at least one of the mounting holes and that pin align with your old pivot bar, this should work for you.

The 26-336 pivot bar doesn't work in my windows :(

There's a raised "ridge" at the end of the bar that keeps it from engaging the pivot cam.

Do you have any suggestions?

I'm surprised to hear it didn't work. I've replaced your old Simonton pivot bar with our 26-336 personally and I've never run into any issues.

A thought does occur to me, though. Have your pivot shoes been replaced in recent years? The old Simonton pivot shoe had a slot in its metal cam to accept the ridge you mention, but modern replacements don't. Specifically, shoes like our Certainteed 15-192. This could account for why you're running into this problem.

Unfortunately, the old Simonton pivot shoe isn't made anymore. You won't find any shoes in this style that have that slot. We typically recommend that customers re-use their old metal cams, but if that's not possible then your only option would be to grind down that ridge so that it can fit in the cam.

I know that's a bit of a pain. I wish they still made this hardware, it would definitely make life easier. We just have to work with what's available. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Great! We are happy to hear that everything has worked out for you!

We ground down the ridge with a Dremel-like tool, and that worked like a charm! It was surprisingly easy to grind down, and now my window tilts in as designed. Thanks again for your helpful suggestions!
