I have tried many Allen wrenches to remove the set screw from the handle, similar to the 40-049. It appears the set screw is missing. I am not able to get the handle off. Please advise.

Hello there! Sorry to hear of your trouble. I am not sure why you can't remove your handle set from the lock. Have you taken a look at the video on these type of lever handles, shown below? Normally they do have an hex type set screw. Could be you need a metric Allen wrench to remove the set screw. Take a look and see what you think.
