Mortise latch 31/4 x 1/2

Question

The latch original to the door fell down into the frame. I purchased the new latch and it is not sitting deep enough into the frame for the door handles with locking mechanism to line up with the slot on the latch. I don't know if the original latch was 45 degree or straight. I am searching for a latch that will sit deep enough for the door lock to line up. I suppose it would have to be longer in depth. I'm not really sure if it exists.

We can't be sure without seeing the original mortise latch but take a look at the 82-218 mortise lock that has a 45-degree keyway. You'll need to review the dimensions below to see if the backset and the rest of the specifications could work for your application. Thank you!
