Mortise lock for sliding patio door
Thanks for reaching out! May I please see a photo of your existing mortise lock? I would like to be able to compare the locks in our inventory to your original to ensure we are recommending the best possible replacement. There may be other details that will help to determine the right replacement.
Here's the real issue: when installed, the front of the flange lip must be flush with the door surface. The 82-269 (and every other lock I've seen so far) has the mounting holes recessed which makes the flange lip protrude past the door surface which prevents the door from closing completely. Do you have a similar item similar to 82-269 where the flange lip is flush with the door surface?
Thanks!
Bill
May I please see a photo of the space where your existing hardware would be installed? Also, please confirm the distance between the installation hole measurement from center to center.
This might give us a better idea of what we may be able to recommend to you.

Take a look at our 82-218. Look over the dimensions of this mortise lock and compare them to the opening in your door. I am confident this should be the replacement you'll need.
In case you get stuck during the installation, here is a video that shows how to install this part in the door.
I believe I understand your concerns. We've worked with this door many times as it is a very common sliding glass door style. I am confident that the 82-218 was made for this door and should work for your installation.
In regard to the recessed screw tabs, they should not present an issue. The screw tabs are made to go inside the door frame, effectively, behind the installation screw holes in the door. This does push the face out further, as you described however, because the screw tabs are inside the frame the face would be flush with the side of the door.
If you watch the installation video, we show this exact process and how the faceplate sits flush with door. I am strongly confident that this is the replacement you'll need.
